To all Virginia Sleep Professionals: The Virginia Academy of Sleep Medicine wants YOU to join us in ongoing efforts to advance the field of Sleep Medicine in our state.   In our two years much has been accomplished: The Academy was formed and approximately 250 members from around the state have joined. An excellent educational conference was held in October 2009  in Charlottesville.  The second annual VASM conference was expanded to a full day conference and was sold out!  It was held in October 2010 in Richmond and we had an excellent educational program with over two hundred attendees from all over the state. A successful appeal was made to the Virginia Board of Health Professions for oversight of  licensure of polysomnographic technologists, an important step to ensure quality of care for patients undergoing sleep diagnostic testing in our state and to recognize and preserve the valuable service provided by sleep technologists.
